Who is AdoptTogether?
AdoptTogether is a non-profit, crowdfunding platform that bridges the gap between families who want to adopt and the children who need loving homes. We turn crowds into communities to help bring children home to their families.
Why use AdoptTogether to Fundraise?
1.) Donors are much more comfortable giving and much more generous when they can send money to an IRS approved 501c3 organization.
2.) Donors are much more comfortable giving and much more generous when they know that the money distributed through AdoptTogether grants are used solely for adoption related expenses.
3.) Donors that have access to Corporate Matching Gift programs can have their donation matched since we are an IRS approved 501c3 organization. To date, we have had hundreds of donations matched through Corporate Matching Gift programs.
Making Donations
Can a family donate to their own AdoptTogether fundraiser?
No, a family may not make a donation designated to their own adoption fundraiser to receive a tax benefit. A family may make a tax-deductible contribution to AdoptTogether’s General Fund to support other adopting families.
Can We Donate Cash?
We do not accept cash. You can donate electronically by credit card or debit card. We also accept checks.
Can We Donate by Check?
Yes! Please include the family Fundraiser ID# on the memo line of the check. The family Fundraiser ID# can be found on the family’s profile page. The ID is what AdoptTogether uses to map and apply donations to your fundraiser. When donors send in checks it is vital that your ID is listed on the check’s memo line. Checks can be mailed to:

How much of my Donation goes to the family?
There is no charge for the family to create a profile. A 5% transaction cost is deducted from all donations. This covers costs incurred for processing donations. You can also donate directly to AdoptTogether
Do We Get a Receipt After Donating?
Yes, you will receive a receipt immediately if you donate using a credit card. If you donate $250 or more by check, we will send you a receipt at the end of the year. You can always email us and ask us for a copy!
Is My Donation Tax-Deductible?
Yes. AdoptTogether.org is a project of HOPING HEARTS FOUNDATION - 501c3 #27-1966036.
Do you offer refunds?
No, we do not offer refunds to the tax-deductible donations made to AdoptTogether.
When are Donations Posted?
Credit card donations are posted immediately; Check donations are posted as they are received and processed.
Do you accept donations from International donors?
Yes, we accept international donations from major banks.
Receiving Funds
What types of expenses would be approved for a grant request?
You can submit a grant request from AdoptTogether funds for any adoption expense required for your adoption. This can include expenses such as homestudy fees, agency fees, attorney or court fees, travel expenses to bring your child(ren) home, etc. If you have a specific expense in mind, please don't hesitate to ask.
How do I request a grant?
Log in to your profile, and click on the button Request a Grant on the top right corner. Fill in all fields and upload your supporting documentation that substantiates your adoption expense(s).
What Kind of Documentation is Needed for Grant Requests?
When applying for an individual grant from AdoptTogether, you must attach invoices and/or receipts to substantiate your incurred adoption expense. The key here is to provide evidence of adoption expenses to support the grant request. When requesting a grant to be paid directly to an adoption agency, no additional documentation is required. You can upload supporting document(s) when you submit for a grant request.
How Do I Know if my Grant Request has been Successfully Submitted?
Once you have submitted your profile, you will see the grant request and submitted status on the Grants section of your profile dashboard. You will also receive an email confirmation once your grant request has been submitted. We will contact you once we’ve heard back from the Hoping Hearts Foundation Board’s monthly review.
How Long Does it Take to Get a Grant Awarded?
The Board reviews grant requests at the end of each month. Please allow 7-14 days after the Board has concluded their review to receive the grant check.
What happens to funds if we decide to not move forward with our adoption?
All funds raised can be requested through our grant request process. It is not contingent on whether or not the adoption is finalized, as adoption expenses are incurred along the process. Donations can not be refunded to your donors.

AdoptTogether is free for everyone to use thanks to the generosity of THE FAMILY.
A 5% transaction cost is deducted from all donations.
Why use AdoptTogether instead of a common crowdfunding platform?
Unlike other platforms, donations made through AdoptTogether are fully tax deductible for individuals or corporate partners in the US. As an approved 501c3, extra scrutiny is placed on our organization to distribute funds transparently, while providing you the added tax benefits for your donation.
Research shows that donors give more when they can receive a tax deduction for their donation. Additionally, donors give more frequently when there is a process that accompanies the funding, such as our grant request process.
