We are thrilled to announce that our family is in the process of adopting a beautiful baby boy! While we were in YWAM, Kona in 2014, the Lord spoke clearly to Maria about adopting a child in the future. We then attended an adoption seminar they held on campus.
Our plans were to have two to three biological children and then pursue adoption. Adria was born in 2015, and since then, we have experienced a long, lonely journey of infertility. In the past twelve months, the Lord began to speak to us in different ways to begin the adoption journey. Several family members had dreams which confirmed what the Lord was speaking to us. Adopting a child has always been a dream of ours, and we are overjoyed to finally be on this incredible journey. We believe that every child deserves a loving home, and we are ready to provide all the love, support, and care that our future baby needs.
The adoption process comes with significant costs, including agency fees, legal expenses, and travel. Costs will range from $60,000 to $100,000. Your generous contributions will directly assist us in making our dream of becoming a family of six (including our two puppies) a reality.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of our adoption journey. We can't wait to introduce you to our little one and share the joy of this amazing adventure with you all.
We are excited to announce that we have been matched!
It’s a pretty wild story. We received the case on February 22 and had until the 23rd to decide if we wanted to be presented. The case looked great, and we immediately thought it would be a yes. We decided to wait until Sunday morning to make a final decision. However, that same day, my dad passed away. Obviously, we didn’t have the capacity to make such an important decision, so we declined. This was a hard choice because, under normal circumstances, we would have said yes.
This past Wednesday, March 5, at 10:05 AM, we received notice that the birth mom still hadn't chosen a family and wanted to see more profiles. Twenty minutes later, we gave our yes. That night, at 8:30 PM, we got the call that the birth mom chose us!
Her request was this: The birth mom was hoping for a childless couple but was open to seeing families with children who were unable to have more. The baby boy is due August 9, but we were told that she usually delivers 2-4 weeks early—so possibly early to mid-July. The birth mom lives in Louisiana but is currently staying at an adoption agency in Utah, about 30 minutes north of Salt Lake City.
We are still grieving the loss of my dad, and one of our concerns was that we might get picked and have to place before we felt emotionally ready. Maria just shared with me that, a few days before we were matched, she had been pleading with God to be patient with us, feeling in no way ready for placement. The timing of this baby feels perfect, and we deeply feel the gentleness of the Lord through all of this.
Another wild detail: At our adoption fundraiser, we raised almost $100,000. After expenses from the event and some adoption-related costs since then, we had a balance of $78,000. The adoption will cost $77,000. Wild!
Again, we couldn’t have done this without you and your generosity. Know that you are a significant part of our story, and we are extremely grateful. Thank you!
