Matt and Margot Carnevale

are adopting a child from United States of America

We have been on a heartbreaking journey of infertility. After working with doctors, we learned that (scientifically) having children naturally is not in the cards for us. (However, we know that God’s will is greater than science and we will never say never.)

Throughout this difficult time, we leaned on our faith and sought guidance from God. After lots of prayer and reflection, we felt led to grow our family through adoption! This decision has filled us with so much hope and excitement for the future!

Starting the adoption process has been difficult. We've dealt with applications, denials, more applications, and lots and lots of waiting, but God's timing is always better than our own. We are absolutely thrilled to share that we have FINALLY been accepted into Gladney Center's infant adoption program! We are eager and filled with joy as we look forward to welcoming a BABY into our family.

As we prepare for their arrival, we want to invite you to be a part of this special adventure through our puzzle fundraiser.

Here’s how it works: When you donate, we will write your name on the back of a puzzle piece. Once we complete the puzzle, we’ll frame it and proudly display it in our child’s nursery as a cherished reminder of the love and support from all of you who have joined us on this journey.

Your contribution will not only help us cover the costs of adoption but will also create a lasting symbol of community and connection in our child’s life. We can’t wait to share this framed puzzle with our little one, showing them just how much love surrounds them from the very beginning.

We truly appreciate any support you can offer, whether through sharing our story, contributing to our fundraising efforts, or simply keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for being part of our journey. We can’t wait to be matched with our future child and share this beautiful adventure with you!

    Adoption Sunday!

    September 21, 2025

We are honored that our church, Midwood Baptist, is going to celebrate our family and adoption on October 12, 2025. We would love to have anyone who is able to join, come that Sunday and celebrate adoption with us. The service starts at 11am. We will have a time a worship, a sermon that dives into the biblical meaning of adoption, and then a Q&A with Matt and I. It would mean the world to us to have you there to worship with us.

Midwood Baptist Church is located at 2029 Mecklenburg Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28205.

    HOME STUDY!!!!

    July 27, 2025

    Hey Everyone!!

We want to start by saying thank you for all of the well wishes, financial support, and prayers that you all have given us throughout this journey. We feel so blessed by the Lord with all of the wonderful people He has placed in our lives.

On Friday evening at 4:50 pm we received word that our home study will begin on Monday! This is the final hurdle before we enter the matching process. We do not have any insight on what will happen tomorrow or how long the home study process will take but we are SO EXCITED to begin.

Our case worker, Suzanne, is set to arrive at 2:30 tomorrow afternoon. We have cleaned the house, organized closets (that she'll probably never see BUT WHAT IF?!?!) and of course I baked. We have sourdough cinnamon rolls, a loaf of sourdough bread, and brown butter chocolate chip cookie dough that I'll throw in the oven right before she arrives. Hopefully she is hungry and doesn't have diabetes. LOL!

When we first received word that she was coming, our minds started flooding with fear of the unknown. Will we be ready for her in two days? Is our house good enough? Are we good enough? Will she like us? What kind of questions will she ask? What will she be looking for? WILL WE PASS!? We let this fear dictate our way of thinking for almost 24 hours. It was stressful until we were reminded of the sovereignty of Christ.

The truth is we are not enough. Our home is not enough. But Christ is enough. When we stopped and remembered that the Lord already wrote our story, we found peace. All we can plan for is that when Suzanne comes, we show her the love of Christ and let her see the love that we plan to show our future child. We have no idea what tomorrow holds but we know who holds tomorrow and we have joy about that!

If you think of it tomorrow at 2:30, we would appreciate a prayer for peaceful hearts and a wonderful meeting with Suzanne.

We cannot wait to update you as we walk through this process.

    All Our Love,
    Margot and Matt

    May 14, 2025 Update

    May 14, 2025

We are overwhelmed, in the best way, by the outpouring of support from everyone. Watching our adoption fund grow over the past week has been so incredibly moving and filled us with so much hope, and a few happy tears.

Matt and I are busy printing and binding all of your books. We feel so grateful to be spending our time this way. It means the world to us to play even a small part in your child’s learning journey, especially knowing that you’re helping us on our journey to become parents.

As many of you know, adoption can be quite costly so I wanted to take a moment to share a bit more about where your support is going. 95% of each donation goes directly toward our adoption process, with the remaining 5% supporting AdoptTogether, a nonprofit that provides a safe, secure way for families like ours to raise funds. They carefully review each invoice before issuing payments to our adoption agency, ensuring every dollar is well accounted for. Thanks to your generosity, we've already been able to use $9,000 of funds raised toward our first two payments.

We’re working with the Gladney Center for Adoption, an incredible agency based in Fort Worth, Texas. Last month, we attended an orientation there and were blown away by their commitment to the well-being of everyone involved. The funds we pay cover critical support like caseworkers for us and the expectant mother, home studies, medical care, safe housing, counseling, educational and career support for the expectant mother, delivery and hospitalization costs for the baby, and so much more.

It might feel like you’re making a small difference, but to us, it’s absolutely life-changing. Your generosity is helping us, our future child, and the brave mother who will bring them into the world.

We are currently in the paperwork phase of the adoption process (there’s a lot of it!) and our next big milestone is the home study. Once the home study is complete, we’ll make our largest payment yet [$33,500] and enter the matching phase. Once we have been matched with our child, we will submit our final payment of $15,000. Every single donation brings us one step closer to holding our baby in our arms. We truly cannot say thank you enough.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting our growing family.

    In Christ,
    Margot (and Matt) Carnevale

    Thank you!

    April 7, 2025

I just want to take a moment to express how incredibly grateful we are for each and every one of you who has been praying for us and supporting us on this journey. Your kindness and generosity have truly left us speechless, and we feel so blessed to have such an amazing community around us.

On Thursday, we’ll be heading to Fort Worth to begin our orientation at Gladney, and we can hardly contain our excitement to get started. It is such an important step in this process, and we’re eager to learn more about what’s ahead.

We can’t wait to keep you all updated as things move forward. Your support has been everything to us, and we’re so thankful for each one of you. Thank you again for being part of this chapter in our lives. We appreciate you more than words can express!
